What Is Acne?

    Acne a common condition for youngsters, can cause permanent scar on your face. Acne is condition where hair follicle is infected, and skin pores are blocked due to dust particle. 

    Acne is a very commonly occurring  skin disease, and the reflection of internal deranged hormonal balance. Pimple is one of the types of acne. Pimples start with small bumps slightly reddish in color showing sign of inflammation.  

    Acne commonly occurs in adolescence and affects mostly teenagers. Children and adults, before and after puberty may be affected. These may be excess oil produced by hair follicle, or dead cells get accumulated at skin pores, fluctuating hormonal level, or excess oily sebum secretion.

Who Is Affected By Acne? 

    Though Acne is common in young age group, due to hormonal disturbances, it can occur after 20s or 30s, or there after.

    More commonly acne occurs on face, chin, forehead, upper of back, but sometimes on shoulder, neck, chest, etc.

Vitamin A is helpful -

    Some study suggest that Vitamin A i.e., retinol supplement can help treat acne, and also help reduce the scar tissue formed due to acne. Those having plenty of green leafy vegetables, salads including carrot in their diet, can get less or no acne.

What Is Vitamin A? 

    Vitamin A is fat soluble vitamin mostly found in green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, carrot, yellow fruits etc.. It helps to convert the carotene compound in retinol. This compound is found in butter, egg yolk, etc. 

    Vitamin helps your body to keep healthy skin, eyes, bones teeth, etc., and provides a pigment to your retina. it provides good vision, and also protect eye from dryness. 

    The important part of Vitamin A is, it functions as antioxidants. Being ana antioxidant, it protects from free radicals and may prevent skin from aging. 

Benefits if Vitamin A for Acne -

    As mentioned above, it is an antioxidant and protect from free radicles that may cause cell damage. It provides anti-inflammatory property also, and therefore slough off dead cells and thus prevent clogging of skin pores. 

    Eating regularly sufficient and recommended amount of vitamin A can keep your skin healthy from within, thus, less chances of getting infected. 

    Vitamin A may also help in the process of wound healing, thus can help skin healing, in case of acne. It help fight inflammation and reduce redness of skin.

Sources of Vitamin A -

    Animal sources include beef especially beef liver, cod liver oil, Salmon and Tuna fish, boiled egg, cream, cheese, etc.

    Vegetable sources are all yellow fruits such as mango, green vegetables, greener the vegetables, more it contains vitamin A,  nuts for ex., apricot, fig, etc.

    Similarly, in case where there is sever vitamin A deficiency, Vitamin A capsules or tablet can be recommended by your physician. But as much as possible, take ample of this nutrient through your food, that is easy to absorb by your body.

    Do not take more dose by yourself for better results, it may cause some damage, or poisoning. In case of overdose of vitamin A, call your physician first.
